COURSE OBJECTIVE

The objective of this course is to develop advanced skills and competency in the understanding of the basic teories of aesthetics and philosophy of art and to investigate process of the development of these theories in the history of philosophy.

LEARNİNG OUTCOMES

1. By the end of this course the students will be able to comprehend philosophically the foundations of aesthetics and art,

2. Understand the difference between the theories developed about aesthetics and art,

3. Analyze the points on which theories of aesthetics and art criticize each other's ideas,

4. Lead an effective discussion on the resources and the results that could be reached recently in the field of aesthetics and philosophy of art,

5. Apprehend the means and methods of leading a theoretical investigation about aesthetics and philosophy of art.   

ASSESSNENT CRITERIA

The students' performance will be evaluated by the questions that will be asked in midterm and final exams.

%70 attendance is required. The participation in midterm and final exams will be considered in grading.
